Dear Parents and Players,
We have all watched as the COVID-19 pandemic has spread across our country. Your Central Mississippi Volleyball Association of the Madison-Ridgeland Youth Club has been in discussion for several days as we determined the course of action that was best for the girls who are the heart of our league. They are the reason we exist, and we take their health and well-being very seriously.
We had determined that we would follow the lead of Madison County Schools; this morning’s announcement has led us to our decision. At this time, we plan on delaying the start of our season until March 30. There will be no practicing until further notice as our community makes every effort to lower the curve of infection. We hope everyone understands the position we are compelled to take. We realize how much the girls are looking forward to playing this spring, and we hope it will come to fruition soon.
Please know that we will continue monitoring the situation, and do what is best for your daughters and our community. As things are very fluid at this time, please bear with us as we face this unprecedented situation together. Please continue to watch the CMVA/MRYC website, SSUPlay app, and Facebook page for the latest in information. We will get through this, as our community always does. We will proceed with our season as soon as we are confident that we may do so safely.
We hope to have a wonderful season this spring, and are in the process of creating an entirely new schedule which will still allow us to have a season that is exciting and meaningful, without taking too much valuable school and homework time. Above all, we are committed to provide for your daughters an exciting activity while remembering the student part of student-athlete.
Thank you for your understanding as we move forward.
Ken Hackman, President
